Garage Doors and Shelving
Tips To A Stylish and Spacious Garage:
Choosing the Right Garage Doors and
Shelving
"Every man’s
garage is his own castle." Despite of one’s profession, despite of the fact what
one does for a living, and despite the daily 9 to 5 routine that we follows, a
garage, in a way, remains a place where hobbies are stored, festive decorations
are cherished and holidays are planned. Here we offer some tips to help you
model a garage and then maintain it.
Tip 1 Selecting the right type of garage door is the first thing you do. The choices
are mainly between wooden garage doors and steel one, both of which come in
endless styles. Steel is preferred for its strength, whereas, wood is preferred
for its aesthetics.
Tip 2 Garage door springs are probably the most important part of a garage door.
Theoretically speaking, door springs are the muscles of the door which do 95% of
all the lifting task of an overhead garage door. It is always a good practice to
regularly check for the proper functioning of the springs. The easiest way to
check it is – when within the tracks, the door is not in a bind, it stays
suspended in halfway open or closed position. If the door closes or slams on its
own, it means that the spring is too loose; and if the door opens up, the spring
might be too tight. And remember, springs are always to be adjusted only by a
professional.
Tip 3 Proper maintenance of garage door rollers is also necessary. For a quieter home,
use nylon-coated rollers. Buy rollers with strength matching the weight of the
door. And yeah, lubricate them time to time.
Tip 4 The garage door opener you are using must have come with a remote. Still, it is
always a good idea that you buy a universal garage door remote. You might loose
the original remote some day, or it might get damaged. In such cases, a
universal remote always comes handy.
Tip 5 Adding garage door windows is the latest fad. It serves two important purposes.
One, it allows daylight to enter in to the garage. And two, it adds a
distinctive decorative appeal to the garage. Windows are mounted high on the
garage door and they tend to be smaller.
Tip 6 Organizing what all is stored inside the garage is of paramount importance.
Often it is seen that people fill up their garage so much that there is no space
even for the car to fit in. The first step in organizing a garage is to sort all
the stored items and through the useless ones. After that depending on your
needs, you can buy from a variety of garage shelves, garage storage cabinets,
garage closets and garage organizers. These are great resources and using them
makes keeping the garage tidy quite easy.
